Dev Log 3 - Scheduling My Work
I usually struggle with working ahead of a deadline and I procrastinate really badly before the due date. This led me to usually only do assignment work the week of, as this was only when I felt motivated to work. So I had to try and get better time management, which I could do after some errors and missed projects. I schedule my work now by how fast they will be finished usually doing that first and then leaving a couple of days per bigger project. For example two weeks ago when I had a lot of projects due in one week I took one day to complete the small projects and allowed myself two days per big project even if I finished the project in a day I just moved things back. Doing this allowed me to be ahead of schedule not just for that week but helped me improve my work-life balance too.

It's great to hear how you're improving your time management! Procrastination is a hard habit to break, but it sounds like you've found what works for you. Scheduling your time according to how long each task takes and allowing some buffer days for larger projects is a smart strategy. In fact, not only will this get you ahead of schedule, but it will also help you balance your work and life, which is a real double whammy. Keep up the good work and good luck with your continued success in meeting your deadlines!
Hey Lucy!
I totally relate to the laziness you experience, it is something I had to work my schedule around. Giving yourself extra days to chunk away at big tasks is smart, since it allows for room of error.
I've definitely felt similar in situations in the past. I find bigger projects a bit harder to manage, especially when it comes to group work. Oftentimes, managing other group members deadlines alongside my own messes me up in my scheduling. Looking ahead to try and foresee issues can be really tough too and is definitely something we all can improve on.
Hiya Lucy!
I can relate to the procrastinating bit that you wrote. I was really bad at it last year and was rushing everything which resulted in me not putting effort into whatever I was working on. It seems like we do the opposite of tackling assignments where I work on the bigger assignments first before working on the smaller ones but I'm glad that you were able to improve your work-life balance!
Hi Lucy!
You seem to have a good balance when managing time between small projects and big projects. I've also started breaking tasks down based on scale, though I'm now struggling with making assumptions about how long something will actually take. It's a difficult bit of mental gymnastics we have to contend with, trying to predict every problem we might face and figure out how long it'll take us to solve those problems.
